Leaders Course 1st October

On Saturday 1st of October, SAPTC is running a Leaders Course at the club run by Hugh O’Loughlin, our club Director of Coaching. The course is to educate and help adults understand how to introduce appropriate programmes of organised play for juniors using the correct equipment in a safe environment.

The course will run from 4pm to 7pm and Ann Marie Breen from Tennis Ireland will also be in attendance to discuss Safeguarding.

SAPTC would love to get more adults involved in developing this key area for the club and we hope you might take the time to join us.

In addition, if you are interested in getting involved with the club, but potentially in another capacity, outside of junior activities, members of the club committee will be in attendance at the courts at that time, and will be happy to chat to you about other ongoing activities that we would benefit hugely from volunteers to help out.

Venue: St. Annes Tennis Club
Date: Saturday 1st October
Time : 4pm to 7pm

Please sign up at the link below if you would like to attend.

COVID-19 Player Guidelines

We are introducing a set of guidelines that must be adhered to while playing under current circumstances. These are subject to change but it is important to familiarise yourself with these on a regular basis.

The club is currently only open for members as DCC have made the decision to not open the courts to the public. Please click the JOIN THE CLUB button above if you are interested in becoming a member.

Player Guidelines

Before Leaving Your Home
- Make sure you have booked your court and listed all players’ names. Know which court you booked and where it is.
- Keep your equipment to a minimum and check it’s all in your bag before you go to the courts.
- Bring a full water bottle and don’t touch the public fountain.
- Go to the toilet at home because our clubhouse is fully closed.

Arrival
- With the safety procedures, we are using, arriving on the hour (eg. 7pm for a 7pm match) is too late and you may not be allowed to enter. Please arrive at the gate 5+ minutes before your court time (this gives the steward the time they need to check you all in).
- Keep 2m from other households at all times and follow all general Covid-19 guidelines.
- Wait on the black courts waiting area until your steward is ready.
- Sanitize your hands.
- Have your booking ready on your phone to show/read-off to the steward.
- Read the safety posters on the fences as you wait.
- Once you have been checked-in, and all the courts have been cleared, you can go and play.

During Play
- Leave your equipment bags at the each end of the court, not the sides. Nobody will be passing until the end of the hour.
- Keep things neat so you can tidy-up quickly afterwards.
- Use your own tennis balls when you’re serving (your opponent’s tennis balls should never touch your hands, just your racquet).
- Don’t touch anything that doesn’t belong to you.
- Don’t run across other courts to get a ball.
- Use your foot or racquet to pass balls back to other players/courts.
- Don’t touch your face.
- Swap on opposite sides of the net.
- If you send a ball over the fence, just leave it, you can get it at the end of your hour. Leaving the Courts The steward will signal that play is finished (with a shout, a ring of a bell, a clap, or something else).
- This will be slightly before the hour mark to give you time to leave and give the steward time to set up for the next group to start on the hour.
- Please don’t delay leaving the court as the next hour’s players are looking forward to getting started.
- Sanitize your hands when you leave. Covid-19 droplets can survive on hard surfaces for 3 days so please sanitize all of your equipment after each match.

Your stewards will be busy during the change-overs, they’re doing us all a huge favour, so please have everything sorted to make things as easy as possible for them.
