St Annes Park Tennis Club Redevelopment Update
We are pleased to announce that we received confirmation today that the long-awaited redevelopment of the clubhouse is about to begin! Works will commence this coming Monday 5th October, and are expected to last for approximately 18 months, bringing us a brand new clubhouse with changing facilities and toilets, a multipurpose space, a viewing area, and much more. The final complex will include nine fully floodlit courts, a proposed practice wall area, and a new all-weather lawn bowling green.
This has been thoughtfully and sensitively designed and will be a jewel in the heart of the park.
While this is an extremely exciting time for the club, there will be some impact on our members during this period. Please note the following arrangements:
SAPTC will be FULLY CLOSED from 5-11 October, reopening on Monday 12 October. There will be no court availability in this period, for members or the public, and there will be no coaching or club activities during this time. The only exception to this closure is for existing Floodlight League fixtures - if you are playing in one of these, please contact your Captain for information.
The clubhouse will no longer be accessible to members from 5 October, until we have a brand new one at the end of the works. There will be temporary public toilets located beside the golf kiosk, and the club will have temporary accommodation with toilets delivered later in October. Access arrangements for this facility will be communicated as soon as possible. If you have lost property in the clubhouse, this is your final chance to get it back!!
Court 1 will be out of action for the duration of the works. After the week of closure, there will be access to courts 2-9 as usual, with court access through a gate on to Court 9. Everything else will be fully hoarded off so there should be no safety concerns, but please do exercise caution. We'd also ask members using the gate to be aware of the fact that play may be ongoing on Court 9 and to avoid entering mid-point!
Floodlighting on Courts 2-5 will be centrally managed from 5 October until further notice.
The availability of the car park will be significantly diminished for the duration of the works, beginning on 5 October, so please consider alternative modes of travel to the club, and be aware that there may be extra congestion. There will be clear signage about parking and access on the hoarding, and at any entry/exit points.
We appreciate that elements of this work will potentially be very disruptive, but the schedule of works falls under the purview of Dublin City Council and is not something over which we have any control. We will endeavour to keep communication clear and timely, and make the process as smooth as possible. We ask you to approach the works with the patience and good humour that are the hallmark of our club, and we appreciate your cooperation and forbearance. This will be an amazing addition to the park and a huge asset to the club, and we can't wait to see it develop.
